Whale Watching
Santa Barbara is one of the best whale-watching areas in the world. Nearly 30 different types of whales and dolphins visit the region each year.
From mid-May-November, whale-watching cruises take visitors out to see the blue whales - the world's largest mammals - in the nutrient-rich waters off the Santa Barbara coast. December through May, the Santa Barbara channel plays host to the pacific gray whale migration, one of nature's greatest shows. More than 28,000 of these graceful mammals hug the coastline along their migration between Alaska and Baja.
For a magical day on the water and some spectacular views of the local wildlife and our beautiful coastline, whale watching is a must-do Santa Barbara adventure. Two-hour to half-day whale-watching cruises depart from SEA Landing and the Santa Barbara harbor.
